  • Once more we are happy to report the successful conclusion of another CDOIF assessment, this time for a major energy provider.
  • Our client, as with the previous clients were compelled to complete this risk assessment mainly due to the following regulations in the Control of Major Accident Hazards (COMAH) 2015
  • Regulation 5 (“General duty of the operator”) requires every operator to take all measures necessary to prevent major accidents and to limit their consequences for human health and the environment. The CDOIF risk assessment is the accepted methodology used by operators to demonstrate that “all measures necessary” have been taken regarding potential Major Accidents to the Environment (MATTE).
  • Regulation 7 requires the operator to prepare and retain a major accident prevention policy (MAPP), which must be designed to ensure a high level of protection of human health and the environment. (Contained in the CDOIF)
  • For Upper Tier sites, the requirement is further detailed in the need to submit a Safety Report (Regulation 10) that includes a demonstration of the environmental risk assessment and shows that risks are reduced to As Low As Reasonably Practicable (ALARP) level.

This is the third time our clients have submitted our reports to the Environment agency and the HSE without any recourse or constructive feedback. This of course is a consequence of the projects being conducted and prepared by one of the UK’s top environmental consultants. If CDOIF is a requirement for your organisation, it is guaranteed you are in good hands with Sustainable Solutions ESHB.
